4月16日,Anne L'Huillier 教授将在致远学院报告厅进行题为“The route to attosecond light pulses”的前沿报告。
Abstract: When an intense laser interacts with a gas of atoms, high-order harmonics are generated. In the time domain, this radiation forms a train of extremely short light pulses, of the order of 100 attoseconds. Attosecond pulses allow the study of the dynamics of electrons in atoms and molecules, using pump-probe techniques. The presentation will highlight some of the key steps of the field of attosecond science.
Popular science version: Ultrafast cameras, using ultrashort light flashes, allow the capture of ultrafast motion. In atoms or molecules, attosecond light pulses are needed to capture the motion of electrons (1as=1e-18s). This presentation will highlight the physics behind the generation and application of attosecond light pulses (Nobel Prize in Physics 2023).
