“致交”系列活动旨在为致远学子搭建一个分享交流，思考讨论的机会和平台。“致交”系列活动包含“问道”、“论道”以及“悟道”三个版块，希望能带给大家全方位的学术人生启迪。

“致交·论道”计划邀请活跃在科学前沿的青年学者来到明德书屋，分享他们对前沿科学问题的认识和探索未知的心得。希望同学们能够在开阔视野、扩展知识的同时，在交流讨论中碰撞出思维的火花，成为敢问爱问，敢想会说的致远人。

本期活动，我们有幸邀请到了西班牙庞培法布拉大学 ICREA 荣誉教授、名誉教授 Alfonso Martinez Arias 老师做客本次致交·论道活动。Alfonso Martinez Arias 教授是西班牙籍知名生物学家，现任西班牙庞培法布拉大学 ICREA 荣誉教授、名誉教授，同时也是该校行星福祉中心科学发起人，曾长期任职于英国剑桥大学遗传学系并担任讲席教授，在发育生物学、系统生物工程等领域深耕数十年，斩获英国发育生物学学会沃丁顿奖章、西班牙旅英研究者协会终身成就奖，其参与编著的 Principles of Development 更是获得英国皇家生物学会本科教材奖。本次分享的主题为Looking Back into the Future of Biology: A Personal Perspective。

下面是 Alfonso Martinez Arias 教授的演讲引言：The title might look confusing but it is what I plan to do: to look into the future of biological research from the perspective of over 40 years experience in teaching and research. I will describe how the landscape of discovery has changed over this time, from an era in which genes were mutations without a physical basis and cells bricks that made up tissues and organs, to today’s world of dizzying personalized genomic sequencing. I will also describe the challenges faced by young people interested in doing research and will share some thoughts about how to navigate those challenges, enjoy research and satisfy the curiosity that is at the heart of any young researcher. Importantly, I will be happy to answer any questions you may have on your present, the future and my career.
