Graphs and the mathematical analysis of networks

A graph is the mathematical model of a network of pairwise interactions between its elements. We find such networks in biology, social systems, and infrastructure, and many other disciplines. Mathematics provides important tools for analyzing such networks, for identifying their specific properties, and for classifying them. I shall present some such mathematical methods, in particular those based on spectral analysis. This leads also to many questions of independent mathematical interest.
